1. Hydrant shall meet or exceed ANSI/AWWA C502, latest revision. 2. Hydrant shall have a rated working pressure of 250 PSI with a test pressure of 500 PSI. 3. Hydrant bury depth shall be 4-1/2 feet, measured from the bury line to the bottom of the hydrant shoe. 4. Hydrant shall be equipped with a side inlet of polyethylene (PE) pipe stub for direct fusion to PE pipe by electrofusion/socket fusion or butt fusion methods. The PE pipe stub shall be 6 inch diameter DIPS, PE4710, SDR13.5 or SDR11, HDPE water pipe and meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI/AWWA C906 and ANSI/NSF 61. The PE stub shall extend a minimum of 22.5 inches from center of hydrant barrel. 5. PE pipe stub shall be attached to the hydrant by means of a boltless connection using PE pipe pressed onto a grooved base-end and then secured by means of a compression ring. The joint shall be fully encapsulated in a heat shrinkable polyethylene sleeve. The joint between the hydrant and attached pipe stub shall develop the full tensile strength of the PE pipe. 6. Removal of the main valve assembly shall be accomplished from the top of the upper barrel by means of a seat removal wrench utilizing the hydrant stem. The main valve shall close with the water pressure. 7. The draining system shall be a sliding drain seal type. The drain mechanism shall be completely closed after no more than four turns in the opening direction. The drain channel shall be 360 degrees with a minimum of two drain port outlets, bronze bushed on the exterior of the hydrant, using a bronze plug if required. The drain, if unplugged, shall momentarily force flush when opening the hydrant. 8. Hydrant main valve opening shall be 5-1/4 inch diameter. 9. Hydrant shall be open-right (clockwise). 10. Upper stem rod shall be steel. 11. Lower stem rod shall be steel. 12. All ferrous parts except the lower barrel and stainless steel components shall be fusion-bonded epoxy coated and lined. All coatings, internally and externally, shall be applied in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C550, latest revision.
