Saving Project...

Renovation of an educational facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Per the owner, as of May 21, 2024, construction has started on this project. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. ……………….. The Arkansas Union, built in 1973, is situated at the center of the University of Arkansas campus, where it provides a community hub for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This project will improve the function and visibility of spaces for a number of student-focused uses that are housed in two areas of the building: the Multicultural Center on the fourth floor of the west wing, and the Center for Student Organizations on the second level of the east wing. Collectively, these two areas provide offices, classrooms, workrooms, quiet study, meeting rooms, tutoring spaces, etc. for the College Access Initiative, the Academic Enrichment Program, the Office of Student Activities, Student Affairs Development and Communication, Associated Student Government, New Student and Family Programs, Graduate-Professional Student Congress, Registered Student Organizations, University Programs, and Student Organization Outreach and Involvement Experience (SOOIE). The Arkansas Union interior fit out for student organizations will better use existing space to create an optimal fit for the current operation of the various student organizations, all of which have grown along with the increase in student enrollment. It will improve the character of the space through new furnishings, finishes, and lighting. And, importantly, it will help clarify movement and access in these areas, which have become difficult to navigate through years of incremental modifications. Initial programming studies of both areas have helped inform spatial possibilities and the resulting project scope and budget. In addition, the project will investigate water infiltration that currently mainly affects the Multicultural Center, but could be more systematic. The design team will evaluate the building envelope, including the balconies, and recommend repairs. Because the spaces will remain partially occupied during construction, a phasing or logistics plan will be developed by the selected design and construction teams during the design phase of the project. This may affect the project timeline. Include the information below and organize it in an easily accessible manner. You do not need to divide the response into chapters exactly matching the descriptions below. Responses that do not include the required licensure information will be disqualified. 1. All firms shall be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the State of Arkansas. Eligible firms not currently licensed in Arkansas must send a letter to the Arkansas State Board of Architects (501- 682-3171/501-682-3172 fax) stating their intent to respond to an RFQ issued by the University of Arkansas. Please include project name, submittal date, and proof of valid NCARB certification in the letter. Consulting and joint venture firms are also required to be licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Architects. Notification to the State Board must be made PRIOR to responding to this solicitation, and A COPY OF EITHER A VALID ARKANSAS LICENSE OR THE LETTER OF INTENT TO THE STATE BOARD DESCRIBED ABOVE FOR ALL TEAM MEMBER FIRMS MUST BE INCLUDED WITH THE RESPONSE. The final selected firm(s) will have 30 days to make application for corporate licensure after they are awarded the contract. 2. Organizational chart for design team and all consultants 3. Specific project experience (within the past five years) with significant interior renovations, with a particular focus on finishes and systems integration in mid-Twentieth Century modernist buildings 4. Current office size, personnel description, and workload 5. Experience constructing projects under nationally-recognized sustainable rating systems 6. Experience with fully commissioned projects 7. Proof of current professional liability insurance coverage ($1,000,000 minimum required) 8. List of projects currently under contract with state agencies or educational facilities 9. Statement of diversity in the workforce, if applicable 10. Certificate of women-owned or minority-owned business, if applicable To avoid potential conflicts of interest, respondents should not communicate with university faculty or staff about this project. This document provides the relevant information for assembling a Statement of Qualifications. If you have questions about the selection process or the project scope, you can send them via email to toddf@uark.edu. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
