Rehabilitation of Houck Road Bridge (66A) Project Bids exceeding Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) shall be accompanied by Bid Security in the form of a certified check, bank cashier's check, trust company treasurer's check, or Bid Bond prepared on the form contained in the Bid Documents. If the Bid Security is in the form of a Bid Bond, it shall be accompanied with a power of attorney evidencing the authority of the agent of the surety to execute the bond as of the date of the Bid. (1) A performance bond in the amount of One Hundred Percent (100%) of the contract sum, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the Contract in accordance with the Contract Documents shall be submitted. Such bond shall be executed on the form contained in the Bid Documents and shall be solely for the protection of County. (2) A payment bond in the amount of One Hundred Percent (100%) of the contract sum, shall be submitted. Such bond shall be executed on the form contained in the Bid Documents and shall be solely for the protection of claimants supplying labor and materials to the Contractor, or to any of the Contractor's subcontractors, in the prosecution of the work provided for in such Contract, and shall be conditioned upon the prompt delivery of such materials furnished or labor supplied or performed in the prosecution of the work. The County reserves the right to reject any and all Bids, or parts of a Bid, when a rejection is in the County's best interest. The County reserves the right to reject a Bid if the Bidder is not in a position to perform the Contract or has previously failed to perform similar contracts properly or on time as determined by the County in its sole discretion. If a Contract is awarded, it will be to the lowest responsible Bidder, provided such Bidder's Bid is reasonable and in the County's interest to accept.
