Demolition, site work and addition to an educational facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the addition of a 24,262-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The approved option is for a two-storey addition of 8 learning spaces, mechanical space, gender neutral washrooms and NLC space (28 childcare spaces). The addition will be on the east end of the school. Connection to the main school is straightforward and accommodated within the design space allowance. A new boiler room and heating water plant in the addition is required. A new public address system is required as the existing cannot be expanded. The two-storey addition will introduce snow drift onto the adjacent one-storey existing roof. Upgrades to the existing roof joists, beams and stud walls are required. Three portables will need to be relocated on site during construction for temporary accommodations. New parking spaces will be located adjacent to the addition. A portion of the gravel drive will need to be paved for firefighting access. Two exterior play apparatus structures will need to be relocated to the south to accommodate the addition.
