Dakota County, through the Environmental Resources Department, seeks proposals for administrating a statistically significant survey of Dakota County residents about waste reduction and reuse knowledge and behavior. The results of the survey will help Dakota County: o Understand perceived and actual barriers to reducing waste at home o Assess residential attitudes, motivations and behaviors around shopping secondhand, donating, selling used items, repairing, renting equipment and borrowing and sharing in the community o Recognize how, what, and where residents are currently donating and what barriers they might have to expand these behaviors o Identify what terminology resonates with residents to shop secondhand and for general reuse activities To ensure the survey will reflect a representative sample of County residents, it is anticipated that a combination of methodologies may be used, such as phone (landline and cell), mail, internet, social media surveys or focus groups.
