RFP Construction Manager at Risk - Health Sciences Education and Research Center and Western Hemispheric Trade Center Expansion. The Texas A&M University System Office of Facilities Planning & Construction (FP&C), on behalf of the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System (Owner) and Texas A&M International University, is accepting proposals for the selection process to enter into a contract with a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) firm to provide pre-construction services such as constructability guidance, cost estimates, and construction schedules; provide a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP); and perform complete construction services consistent with the CMAR construction delivery process as utilized by The Texas A&M University System for the Texas A&M International University Health Sciences Education and Research Center and Western Hemispheric Trade Center Expansion project (#16-3382) located in Laredo, Texas. The new Health Sciences Education and Research Center will house several health sciences programs, including Kinesiology, Communication Disorders, and Public Health. These programs require classrooms, demonstration rooms, and research labs to meet increased enrollment demands. This two-story facility will have approximately 57,000 gross square feet. The Western Hemispheric Trade Center Expansion will house the business outreach programs, including the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade, the Texas Center for Economic Development, and the Small Business Development Center. Additionally, the expansion will include student support, classroom, and faculty office spaces. The two-story addition will have approximately 20,000 gross square feet. The planning amount for the project is $40,800,000, which includes an Amount Available for Construction Contract (AACC) of $29,350,000. Fees, furnishings, other work, miscellaneous expenses, and contingencies make up the balance of the Planning Amount.
