The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is seeking BIDS for construction services for a renovation project at 440 West Franklin Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. The project will be demolition of the interior of the first floor. The first floor of the building will be removed in its entirety to include: all walls, ceiling, fixtures, cabinets, flooring, electrical fixtures and wiring, ductwork, etc. The chosen contractor will follow 2018 building code and OSHA subpart T standards to demolish the interior of the building safely. The structure and the masonry of the building shall be protected from damage. Manual demolition and mechanical demolition, only, will be allowed. No torches, fire, or chemical demolition will be allowed. Sanitation of the interior will be required before and during demolition to keep the workers safe. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be the responsibility of the chosen contractor. Sanitation of the building interior after demolition is complete is required. Demolition will only be required on the first floor of the building. Electrical outage will be scheduled with the Building and Grounds Department. A Bid Bond will be required at the time of the bid and can be a check that equals 5% of the Bid. A Performance Bond in the dollar amount of the bid will be required by the successful bidder before the project can be awarded. Bidder accepts the provisions as to liquidated damages: If the project is not substantially complete within the 120 calendar days of the notice to proceed, the contractor shall be penalized at a rate of $250 per day until substantial completion is achieved as decided by the County Engineer. Bidder agrees that the Work will be substantially complete and will be completed and ready for final payment within 90 calendar days of the notice to proceed. Wythe County encourages MBE/WBE type firms to submit proposals.
