Site work for a civil project in Burnsville, North Carolina. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

As of July 9, 2024, a design firm has been selected for this project. A detailed timeline for construction has not yet been established. Yancey County is seeking statements of qualifications from firms capable of providing engineering, planning, and consulting services for the purposes of designing, permitting, bidding, and administering construction of two new public drinking water wells to add capacity to the drinking water system which serves the unincorporated area of Yancey County, west of the Town of Burnsville. The wells to be situated on property along Bakers Creek in western Yancey County where current waterline infrastructure is in place as well as a 300,000-gallon drinking water storage tank. The resulting construction project to include mobilization, test well drilling, developing two new wells, including a single well building with a treatment system and fiberglass enclosure for the second well, and an additional 1,500 LF of 6" DIP waterline. Yancey County, planning for growth both residential, industrial, and commercial, desires to procure engineering services including, without limitation, a preliminary engineering report, project scoping, engineering and design, bidding, and construction administration and supervision for a project which will install two new public drinking water wells to add capacity to the drinking water system which serves the unincorporated area of Yancey County, west of the Town of Burnsville. Special consideration will be given to firms who have completed projects pertaining to installation of wastewater collection systems and related appurtenances. Qualified applicants must have an extensive background in engineering, infrastructure planning, design, cost estimation, permitting, and contract administration. Applicants must be experienced in Local, State, and Federal regulations that may affect all aspects of the program of work outlined herein below. Applicants must provide information to demonstrate the firm's experience in the category(s) of services, including experience with other local government agencies. The County is seeking the services of qualified firms with extensive knowledge and background in the field of engineering. These services shall include providing the following: The Project shall include engineering, planning, and consulting services for the purposes of designing, permitting, bidding, and administering construction of two new public drinking waterwells to add capacity to the drinking water system which serves the unincorporated area of Yancey County, west of the Town of Burnsville. The wells to be situated on property along Bakers Creek in western Yancey County where current waterline infrastructure is in place as well as a 300,000-gallon drinking water storage tank. The resulting construction project to include mobilization, test well drilling, developing two new wells, including a single well building with a treatment system and fiberglass enclosure for the second well, and an additional 1,500 LF of 6" DIP waterline. The scope of services may include, but is not limited to, preliminary and other engineering reports, environmental document preparation if required, engineering design of selected alternative(s), permitting, bidding, construction administration and observation, and project close-out. For the duration of the Project, the selected firm will work in cooperation with the Yancey County Manager's office and other county and Town of Burnsville staff as she may direct and assign to develop the goals of the project. The selected firm shall be under contract until the final Engineer's Certification and Applicant's Certification is granted.
