It is intended to install new structural curbs on the existing roof as per the structural engineering drawings (attached) to accommodate a new Solar Thermal Array and associated steel framework and piping. This work shall be scheduled around inclement weather. All roofing works shall be undertaken in accordance with the latest edition of the Roofing Contractors Association Of British Columbia's Roofing practices manual. A new solar thermal array shall be installed as shown on the mechanical & electrical engineering drawings (attached), with the new solar piping being mounted on new roof curbs. This piping shall run towards the central elevator core of the building and shall penetrate the external facade so that a new vertical pipe chase, adjacent to the boiler flues can be installed. A small offset in the vertical piping is required and shall generally follow the same route as the flues. A new preheat system of piping, including solar thermal station, heat exchanger, glycol tank and DHW preheat tank shall be installed within the existing boiler room as detailed on the drawings and within the specification. All new pipework shall be thermally insulated and where it is installed externally, it shall be weatherproofed with aluminum cladding. The contractor shall allow for all necessary tie ins to the existing system, which minimize disruption to the buildings systems.
