All bidders shall complete and return the bid and award page(s) and submit all information requested Herein in order for a bid to be responsive. The bid document shall be returned in its entirety, in a properly Identified and sealed envelope to the purchasing division at the above address. Bids must be Received before the due date - late bids will not be considered. The city Reserves the right to postpone the bid opening for its own convenience. The bid must be accompanied by a bid bond which shall not be less than five (5%) percent of the total amount of the bid. No bid will be considered unless it is accompanied by the required guarantee. The bid guarantee shall ensure the execution of the bid and award, and the furnishing of a performance bond and a labor and material bond (A and B below) by the successful bidder. (Contractors Note: A cashier's or certified check in lieu of a bid bond is NOT acceptable.) A performance bond shall be furnished in the full amount of the contract ensuring the City of faithful performance of all the provisions of the contract, and the satisfactory performance of any equipment required hereunder. The bond shall also ensure the City against defective workmanship and/or materials. A labor and material (payment) bond shall be furnished for the period covered by the contract, in the full amount of the contract for the protection of labor and material suppliers and sub-contractors. The scope of work for this project shall consist of a 3" mill and resurfacing of W. Michigan Ave from Lovell St. to ~150' North of the Academy St. intersection. Included in this work will be spot curb & gutter replacement, sidewalk repairs, curb ramp construction, pavement markings, and installation of pedestrian crossing signs and rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB). Further details and information on the scope of the project and items therein can be found in the plan set (Appendix D) included in this IFB. This work consists of furnishing, placing and adjusting to final grade City of Kalamazoo owned sanitary and storm sewer structure covers during construction operations in accordance with Section 403 of the 2020 MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction.
