The Sport Hosting Office is the sport events focused arm of the organization, and represents a diverse group of interested parties as it pertains to sport events, infrastructure and programming. This group works to develop the destination, promote events, venues, and hospitality partners in the sport market. The Sport Hosting Office represents interested parties including municipal partners, post-secondary institutions, and sport organizations. Collectively, Waterloo Region has a strong baseball community, each major city currently has/had a stadium to support high performance baseball. In every case, each stadium would require major capital investment and upgrades to meet current standards for play, spectator safety & comfort and amenities. None of the aforementioned venues have sufficient spectator capacity to meet the demands of high-performance baseball events at this point in time. Key regional venue operators have identified the need to either invest in existing infrastructure or develop new infrastructure to support baseball and support the development of competitive programs and event hosting long-term. As such, the interested parties of the Waterloo Region Sport Hosting Office (Municipal Partners & Post-Secondary Institutions) as well as Kitchener Panthers Baseball Inc., Kitchener-Waterloo Junior (U22), Cambridge Minor Baseball, Kitchener Minor Baseball and Waterloo Minor Baseball Associations are seeking to retain the services of a qualified consultant team to conduct independent research to assess the market feasibility and potential viability of a senior/elite level baseball stadium within the Region.
