Site work and new construction of a manufacturing facility in Middle City East, Pennsylvania. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a manufacturing facility.
The project scope includes the new construction of approximately 20 projects to build 7 regional clean hydrogen hubs across the nation. Each hub will involve a group of producers, users, distributors and stakeholders in the hydrogen industry. To date, projects are planned in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. As of January 7, 2026, the larger project is in early planning stages. Each project will be led by different companies who will select their engineers, design team and general contractors. The construction timeline has not been established. The project escaped the latest round of clean-energy funding cuts by the Trump administration, but its future remains far from assured. MACH2 said it will press on with its plans to produce, distribute and consume industrial hydrogen in Delaware, southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania after confirming that it was not among more than 200 clean-energy projects around the country that will no longer get federal funding. Project continuation still up in the air. MACH2 has not been defunded, but its long-term Federal support is uncertain pending DOE’s ongoing department-wide review. A Trump-era executive order paused clean-energy grants and required DOE review of all Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and IRA programs. This placed all hydrogen hubs, including MACH2, under scrutiny. MACH2 is still alive and moving forward but remains in a politically fragile position.
