As of August 8, 2024, an engineer has been selected and 50%-90% design is in progress. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: To improve pedestrian and cyclist safety and to expand the City's active transportation network, the City of Oberlin intends to develop improvements along the State Route 58 South corridor from Hamilton St., approximately one mile south to US 20, see attached map. The Public Works Department is seeking professional planning, surveying and engineering services to: o Develop a suitable understanding of current zoning and existing/planned land uses in the project area. o Evaluate the existing built environment along and adjacent to the project corridor including but not limited to SR58, existing sidewalks and driveways, underground utilities, drainage ways and overhead utilities. o Stay apprised of and evaluate potential effects of any developments under consideration in this corridor that may impact the alternatives analysis and/or design. o Review existing relevant traffic count and accident history data. Perform traffic and pedestrian/cyclist counts o Assess jurisdictional, right-of-way and related regulatory issues with the City of Oberlin, ODOT, New Russia Township and Pittsfield Township. o Review potential public and/or private grant/loan opportunities that may be available to subsidize the cost of the proposed improvements. o Develop alternatives for consideration to improve access and safety for pedestrians and cyclists, including advantages/disadvantages of each. Alternatives analysis must include consideration for safe access to both sides of the SR58 corridor as well as future access west along US20 and south across US20 on both sides of SR58. o Prepare preliminary budget estimates and probable schedule for each of the alternatives. o Develop and conduct public outreach. o Present alternatives to stakeholders and decision-makers in adjoining jurisdictions. o Present alternatives to Oberlin City Council for review and discussion. o Prepare draft and final reports.
