This project's premise is to replace end of life SPECT-CT Scanner. The main scope of work is to renovate the entire area (approximately 1800 sf) to provide a new CT Scanner Room, Control Room, patient support areas (waiting and washroom), and staff support areas (including lounge, washroom, and offices). Siemen's equipment has already been purchased by Island Health. Demolition work will include removal of existing radiography equipment, electrical/communications and mechanical services, millwork, partial lead and non-lead lined walls, ceilings and removal of non-containing sheet floor. Construction work may include installation of a new structural ceiling support system for the overhead equipment, flooring, walls (including shielded walls, doors and glazing in accordance with the Radiation Protection Officers requirements, mechanical and electrical/communications services, coring the existing floor slab, doors, ceilings, firestopping and fire protection systems and millwork and to coordinate install of the new X-ray machine (Siemens). Additional scopes of work will include the addition of a patient lift system, and upgrade to existing plumbing and lighting components, pending confirmation of available budget. This project may require an upgrade the base building electrical system, which will require after-hours work to accommodate. The work is anticipated to include a minimum of two phases of construction.
