This project will fund the construction phase to eliminate a 10-foot wide curb extension protruding into the travel way on the south side of Monument Blvd, west of Mi Casa Ct, to allow for three eastbound lanes to flow continuously. The existing curb extension forms a chokepoint and a potential safety hazard for eastbound traffic flow during the evening commute period, causing traffic backups and congestion. The rightmost lane is forced to merge abruptly into the middle lane for a short distance of 200 feet to travel around the curb extension.Design of the project was done under CIP Project No. 2319 (Monument Blvd Design Improvements). Right-of-Way (ROW) acquisition and utility pole relocation was done under CIP Project No. 2445 (Monument Blvd Improvements [ROW & Utility Phase]). This project is in included in the City's or County's FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Per the owner, as of August 1, 2024, construction began on July 19, 2024, and is anticipated to be completed at the end of December 2024, weather permitting. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
