Site work and renovation of an educational facility in Bakersfield, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

The composition of the fiberoptic cabling plants include tube cell air blown fiber at some schools, standard conduit fiber at others, and a combination of both types at some schools. Similarly, where standard conduit fiberoptic cabling is used, there may be existing empty conduit available for the new cabling, or existing fiberoptic cabling may need to be removed before the new cable can be installed. The Intermediate Distribution Frame cabinets typically include rack mounted network switches, copper cabling patch panels, and similar equipment. The termination point for the fiberoptic cabling in each IDF is typically at the IDF cabinet. In some cases, new fiberoptic cable may be installed without unmounting or otherwise disturbing the IDF cabinet, in other cases the cabinet may need to be disassembled and relocated. If any IDF cabinet is not large enough to accommodate the latest generation of high capability network switches, the IDF cabinet will be replaced with the type specified in this document. Replacement of the IDF cabinets shall consist of mounting the new cabinet in place of the old cabinet using anchors per the manufacturer's specifications and will include replacing old patch panels with new patch panels and replacing or extending copper cabling to the patch panels in cases where the patch panels and/or copper cabling do not meet current industry standards. Work on this project must be conducted so that it does not interrupt or interfere with the school's instructional calendar. The KHSD IT Project Manager, as well as the school administration must be notified of work schedules and approve them prior to the commencement of any work on this project. In some cases, this work may be planned in cooperation with the Kern High School District Facilities Planning Department to coincide with existing projects which would require students to be relocated to temporary classrooms, and thereby would allow project work to proceed without regard for the school's instructional calendar. Upgrade fiberoptic cabling to 10 GB Single Mode. Replace IDF Cabinets where cabinets will not accommodate new network switches. Because of the dissimilarities between the existing fiberoptic cable plants and Intermediate Data Frames at each school, a non-mandatory job walk will be conducted at each school site in order to determine the type and quantity of fiberoptic cabling needed, as well as the capacity of each IDF cabinet that requires replacement. Please refer to pages 5-6 of the Specifications for job walk information and schedule. Please meet at the flagpole at each of the school sites as scheduled. Potential proposers will be required to determine all material quantities, including length of fiberoptic cabling, during the non-mandatory job walks. Proposals shall be based on information that potential proposers collect during the job walks. No specifications other than those included in this document, or included in an addendum, will be provided. Kern High's ideal project completion date is August 1st, 2023. All work must be complete by June 30th, 2024. School sites included in this project are as follows: Arvin High School Bakersfield High School Centennial High School East Bakersfield High School Frontier High School Golden Valley High School / Schuetz Career Center Highland High School Independence High School Mira Monte High School North High School Ridgeview High School South High School Stockdale High School Q&A Deadline : 01/04/2023 2:00 PM (PST).
