Renovation of a residential development in Newton, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a residential development.
As of February 27, 2023 , an award has not yet been made. Per the owner, bid results will not be made available until after the award is announced. No time-frame is available for when this project will be awarded City of Newton has received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Scattered Site Housing Project to rehabilitate homes. One home located on S. Caldwell Avenue contains Lead Based Paint that has six (6) lead based paint items to be addressed- exterior: porch ceiling, upper trim/gable, rafter tail, and siding (wall); interior-kitchen wall 1 side. to be encapsulated or removed and surrounding areas cleaned in order to pass an abatement clearance test once completed. The General Contractor will install new items once the abatement process has past inspection. You must be a certified lead based paint abatement contractor and have the required documentation needed to complete the abatement. Any questions regarding the bid documents must be directed in writing via e-mail at laurie.powell@wpcog.org City of Newton reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive any informalities as may be permitted by law City of Newton encourages small and minority owned businesses to bid on their projects. There are no pre bid or mandatory meetings for this job, but it is the responsibility of the abatement contractor to make arrangements with the homeowner to visit the site. 1. Interior: (DLBP) Kitchen Wall Side A a. Encapsulate with Airtight Barrier Tyvek and cover with drywall. Clean all areas for clearance test. Rehab Contractor will paint new drywall also remove old washing machine drain and washer connections in floor. 2. Exterior: (DLBP) a. Side A Porch Ceiling Encapsulate with an airtight house wrap barrier. Clean all areas for clearance test. Rehab Contractor will install vinyl ceiling material. b. Side A Porch Upper Trim and Gable Encapsulate with an airtight house wrap barrier. Clean all areas for clearance test. Rehab contractor will install vinyl trim material. c. Side B Rafter Tail Encapsulate with airtight House wrap barrier. Clean all areas for clearance test. Rehab contractor will install vinyl trim material. d. Side A Siding Wall Encapsulate with airtight House wrap barrier. Clean all areas for clearance test. Rehab contractor will install vinyl siding.
