Renovation of an educational facility in Waialua, Hawaii. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
For Waialua High and Intermediate, Portables P-5 and P-6 - Reroof Portables. - Provide cost proposal to furnish labor, materials, and equipment necessary to reroof two (2) portable buildings (Portables P-5 and P-6) with a single ply roofing membrane system. All questions regarding this project must be submitted to the Project Coordinator by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022. The responses to all questions submitted to the Project Coordinator will be addressed by Monday, December 19, 2022. 1. DEMOLISHING AND DISPOSAL a) The Department assumes the existing roofing system to be asbestos containing materials (ACM). Contractor shall safely remove any ACM in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations from all surfaces/areas specified during the mandatory pre-bid meeting. b) Existing pitch and gravel shall be removed and properly disposed of. c) Contractor shall be responsible for protecting the interior of the classroom building during the entire duration of this project. d) The interior shall be cleaned and restored to original condition at the end of the project. All damages shall be repaired by the contractor to the satisfaction of school officials. e) All debris shall be properly disposed of off-site. 2. WOOD FASCIA, NAILERS, ROOF FLASHING, AND GUTTERS a) All new wood nailers and fascia boards shall be preservative (HiBor) treated to protect against insect and rot. b) Nailers and fascia shall be as indicated on the attached sketches (Attachment A). In general, there shall be: o A double 2x4 nailer around the perimeter of the existing roof deck. o A double 2x6 nailer on each side of the ridge. o A continuous 2x6 fascia around the perimeter of the roof. c) Roof flashing shall be 6" aluminum totaling the perimeter of the roof itself. The color shall match the school colors. d) Gutters shall be aluminum and replaced in kind following the same profile as the existing gutters and downspout system. 3. INSULATION AND BARRIER BOARD a) Rigid roof insulation shall be composed of closed cell polyisocyanurate foam core bonded on each side to fiber reinforced facers, meeting ASTM C 1289 Class I Type II of 20 psi, and ASTM E 84, Flame Spread (foam core) of 25 (polyisocyanurate only, EPS not permitted). Insulation shall have a minimum thermal resistance (R factor) of 19 btu/hr. / sq. ft. b) Barrier board (recovery board) shall be 1/4" thick glass-mat, water-resistant gypsum substrate, meeting ASTM C 1177C 1177M. o Dens-Deck Prime or approved equal (no cellulose materials permitted). c) Insulation and barrier board shall be mechanically fastened to existing roof deck. 4. ROOFING MEMBRANE MATERIALS a) Roofing membrane shall be a single ply (cap sheet) membrane sheet, complying with ASTM D 3909. Width and length of sheet shall be as recommended by the manufacturer. b) In order to comply with the requested twenty (20) year warranty, it shall include SA-SBS cap sheet or SA-APP cap sheet and two layers of SA-Base applied over an approval substrate. c) Roofing membrane thickness shall be a minimum of 60 mils and shall be fully adhered. d) Roofing membrane color shall be chosen by the school. e) New edge flashing shall be as required by roofing system manufacturer. f) Any damaged roof sheeting shall be replaced with new ones. Onsite work shall be completed by Friday, June 30, 2023.
