As of August 2025, the project is on indefinite hold pending owner review. The city is working with the BNSF to establish a schedule. A firm contractor bidding and construction schedule have not been established. The City of Arlington will be replacing the existing Prairie Creek circular culvert at the BNSF crossing near 204th St with a wide rectangular fish passable culvert. This is the final of six culverts being replaced along Prairie Creek as part of the City’s Prairie Creek Enhancement project. The project will include the replacement of the current 60-inch pipe to a 20-foot wide concrete box culvert that meets the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) design guidelines for fish passable culverts, removal of bulk sediment both upstream and downstream from the structure, and reconstruction of approximately 200-feet of Prairie Creek upstream from the culvert. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
