This project is included in the Marion County's fiscal years 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of January 10, 2024, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, funding is allotted to fiscal year 2025. A detailed scope has not yet been released. Airport Beacon and Power Vault. This project will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 (FY23) will include the design of a new rotating beacon with a new L-802A high-intensity rotating beacon, which has two 250-watt pulse smart metal halide lams. The new installation will include new power cable conduit, grounding/counterpoise, and a photocell activation switch. The project will also include the design a new prefabricated electrical vault to house the sensitive and expensive electrical components necessary for controlling the airfield lighting and signage. Phase 2 (FY24) will include the construction of the Airport Beacon and Power Vault. The new power vault will supply the necessary power to the parallel taxiway which significantly increase safety for pilots by mitigating mid-air collisions. The new beacon will bolster safety by increasing night-time visibility and enhance airfield operations during inclement weather. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
