The University of Massachusetts - Lowell, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from General Contractors for the ALC Hoff Center Bridge Structural Repairs for the University of Massachusetts - Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by TEC, Inc The Project consists of: Partial demolition of the existing pedestrian bridge over the Lawrence Feeder Canal. Rehabilitation and painting of existing steel beams. Replacement of reinforced concrete deck. Rehabilitation and painting of existing bridge guardrail. Remove and reset existing brick pavers. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.30A,A39 & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49A,AA,A26 to 27H inclusive. THIS PROJECT IS BEING ELECTRONICALLY BID AND HARD COPY BIDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please review the instructions in the bid documents on how to register as an electronic bidder. General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders and for one set for sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty (30) days of receipt of general bids. Additional sets may be purchased for $ 50.00 Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. The Contract Documents may be seen, but not removed at Nashoba Blue Inc. 433 Main St. Hudson, MA 01749 RFI's are due 12/21/2022 @ 12:00pm and can be emailed to emedaglia@umassp.edu A. The Work under the Contract consists of: 1. All Work either shown on the Drawings or included in the Specifications unless specifically indicated as not to be done. 2. Partial demolition of the existing pedestrian bridge over the Lawrence Feeder Canal. Rehabilitation and painting of existing steel beams. Replacement of reinforced concrete deck. Rehabilitation and painting of existing bridge guardrail. Remove and reset existing brick pavers. B. In addition, the Work under the Contract includes: 1. Work outside the Project Site as called for in the Contract Documents and as required for the performance of the Work. 2. The restoration of any items damaged or destroyed by encroaching upon areas outside the Project Site. 3. Providing and restoring, where appropriate, all temporary facilities. C. The Contractor's attention is directed to Article 3.3 of the General Conditions. D. The site/building and adjacent site/buildings will be occupied during construction. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions to ensure the public safety and convenience of the occupants during construction. E. The Work must be completed in a continuous uninterrupted operation. The Contractor must use sufficient personnel and adequate equipment to complete all the necessary Work requirements within a minimum period of time. F. In accordance with Articles 3.3.7 and 3.3.8 of the General Conditions and unless specifically authorized in writing by the Awarding Authority, the Work must be conducted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. No work is to be done on holidays, Saturdays or Sundays or days that the University is closed other than for emergencies. G. The Contractor is responsible for the security of partially completed Work until the Final Acceptance of Work by the Awarding Authority. I. Only materials and/or equipment intended and necessary for immediate use shall be brought into the Project area. At the end of each work day and at the completion of each phase of Work, equipment and leftover or unused materials shall be removed from the area. J. Smoking is not permitted on Campus or in buildings/facilities.
