The Town of Altavista is seeking qualified contractors to provide residential building (new construction) and renovation services for single family homes through the Town's partnership with the Department of Housing and Community Development and Virginia Housing. The Acquire, Renovate, Sell (ARS) Program will create affordable homeownership opportunities for low-to-moderate income, first-time homebuyers. The Town will seek to acquire undervalued homes using its own lines of credit, build or renovate using ARS funding and other leveraged sources if necessary, and resell the property at fair market value to a first-time homebuyer. Individual contracts may range up to $150,000 depending on the programs desired objectives for each project activity. New home size will range from 1000 - 1200 square feet and may include demolition and site work. Renovation project activities may include roof, electric, heating, plumbing, structural, lead paint remediation and weatherization (windows, doors, insulation, etc.) Individual contracts will be offered for bid, on an as needed basis, to those contractors who have submitted a complete Town of Altavista Housing Contractor Qualification Statement and once approved, who have been placed on the Town's Housing Contractor Registration List.
