Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Fairfax, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility; for paving for a transportation facility; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
This project funds construction of 1,850 linear feet of new sidewalk as well as improvements to bus stop facilities along the west side of Chain Bridge Road between Taba Cove and Warwick Ave. Upon completion, this project will provide complete and continuous access and upgraded bus stop accommodations along Chain Bridge Road between two local Activity Centers (Old Town Fairfax to Northfax). Currently, there is no sidewalk along the majority of the west side of this busy corridor nor are there accessible or inviting bus stop amenities. The bus stops will be improved according to the City's Bus Stop Design Guidelines. The City has received Smart Scale funding for this project. The FY 23 adopted budget included $1,039,154 in funding for PE and the FY 24 adopted budget included $2,470,260 in funding for Right of Way acquistion. The FY 26 funding shown below will be used for Construction. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of September 26, 2025, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
