The City of Eau Claire trail system currently has approximately 29 miles of recreational trails. The trails are used year-round by bicycle commuters, recreational bikers, skaters, pedestrians, and more. Portions of trails are lit and some lighting is desired for some non-lit trail sections. The sequence of trail projects will be determined by need, public outreach, and budget. The anticipated schedule is: 2024 - Cannery Trail 2025 - 1st Avenue Trail Rehabilitation 2026 - Riverwalk Trail Nodes TBD - Galloway Street, Dewey to S-Bridge, Half Moon Trail, Chippewa River Trail Rehabilitations As of June 23, 2023, this project will no longer be covered. This project is in included in the City of Eau Claire's FY 2023 - 2027 CIP and funding allotted for FY 2025, FY 2026, and FY 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
