Renovation of a museum in Niles, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.

For the following project in the City of Niles: 508 E. MAIN STREET - NILES HISTORY CENTER SLATE ROOF REHABILITATION PROJECT AND RELATED WORK- HISTORIC CHAPIN MANSION AND FORT ST. JOSEPH MUSEUM All bidders are required to sign a certification that they will comply with all Federal and State non-discrimination laws and regulations. The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory 100% performance bond as well as labor and material bond. A certified check or bidder's bond in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the proposal will be required with each proposal. Proposals submitted without the certified check or bidders bond will not be accepted. Funding for the project has been allocated from several sources including local, state and federal funds. This undertaking is partially funded by a Certified Local Government grant from the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and will follow the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities in proposals and to accept the proposal that in the opinion of the City Council is most advantageous to the City. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of bids for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time of receiving bids. This work shall include the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, tools, permits, cost of insurance, disposal costs, and other related costs for the NILES HISTORY CENTER (Chapin Mansion and Fort St. Joseph Museum) SLATE ROOF REHABILITATION PROJECT and Related Work located in Niles, MI., in accordance with the obvious intent of the contract documents SLATE SHINGLE REMOVAL Preparation Remove existing slate shingles, felt underlayment and nails. Clean wood roof sheathing broom clean. Do not proceed with shingle application until any faulty roof sheathing is replaced or repaired. There are no known roof leaks therefore the amount of sheathing replacement (if any) is unknown. Salvage shingles from areas removed for determination of those that may be suitable for reuse on the project.
