Metro Water Recovery's Northern Treatment Plant (NTP) is a regional wastewater treatment and transmission facility in the northeastern portion of Metro's service area. In order to ensure that the NTP is meeting the needs of the region and is in continued compliance with regulations, Metro is initiating a project to update its Wastewater Utility Plan (WUP) for the NTP. This update will consider changes in treatment processes, tributary systems, service area adjustments, and population and flow estimates since the original WUP was published in 2010. The update will also consider regulatory conditions, asset condition, and opportunities for innovation and new technology. Additionally, the project will update the service areas for both the NTP and the Robert W Hite Treatment Facility, including population forecasts, flows, and loadings, and summarize this information for use in multiple organizational efforts. The updated WUP will be used to support amendments to the 208 Area Wide Water Quality Management Plan and Regulation No. 22 and will provide necessary background information for the discharge permitting process. The planning period will be for 20 years, with a focus on implementation in the first 10 years.
