The project generally consists of the removal of the existing book drop and surrounding wall and the installation of a new book pick-up window. The pick-up window will consist of an upper fixed window unit and a lower sliding window unit. This assembly will be mounted in new wall construction to match the configuration of the adjacent windows. To better protect the pick-up window from the weather, the existing copper roof will be removed and a larger roof installed essentially matching the existing roof. Interior modification is this area will include the removal of a portion of the existing wall, including an existing door, frame and hardware. In addition to the new pick-up window, a new book drop will be installed. This new book drop will consist of a custom fabricated stainless-steel unit which will be provided by the City to the Contractor. Installation will require a new opening in the exterior masonry wall and the removal of a portion of existing casework.
