The intent of this Request for Qualification (RFQ) is to seek statements of qualifications (Responses) from parties (the Respondents) interested in providing construction services (the “Service”) to for replacement of staircases, retaining walls, steps, boardwalks, and bridges in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, North Vancouver. More specifically, the intent of this RFQ is to short-list up to (5), five number of Respondents to participate in a Tender for construction services; however, the Corporation reserves the right to short-list a greater number of Respondents. The Baden Powell trail section located in the Lynn Headwaters Regional Park is a popular trail connector between the Upper Lynn neighborhood and the Lynn Creek Canyon. It is approximately 200 metres long, has 53 metres elevation difference, and consists of boardwalks, a bridge, stair structures, and steps that create a layout with multiple switchbacks. The trail structures are at the end of their lifespan and the Corporation has retained engineering consulting firm to design rebuild of the trail. The new design generally follows the existing trail alignment, with minor adjustments to site conditions. Submissions for the Project will be sought from general contractors who can demonstrate the following that can be verified by references: Experience in construction of boardwalks, bridges, staircases, steps, retaining walls, and trails; Experience working in steep terrain, physically challenging site conditions, difficult site access, limited laydown area, limited equipment use, on-foot material and parts delivery; Experience working in environmentally sensitive area, in proximity to water bodies, protected vegetation and wildlife habitats; Timely completion of past projects in similar site conditions and with similar scope; Success in dealing with public impact issues, traffic management; Experienced key personnel such as project manager, site superintendent, and site foreman; Record of successful cooperation with sub-contractors and suppliers.
