As of April 4, 2023. The project has been placed on hold indefinitely. They are planning to rebid at some point in the future. For University of West Georgia (UWG) Love Valley Culvert Replacement The project consists of replacing approximately 2,000 LF of existing storm sewer (pipes & structures) where piping is in fair to poor condition around Love Valley on the campus of the University of West Georgia. Portions of the project include storm sewer replacement near the Murphy Building and the University Commons Center. The project will include replacement of the existing failing storm sewer system with primarily high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, some reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and new storm drainage structures. Construction also includes clearing and grubbing, saw-cutting and demolition of existing pavements as necessary for removal and replacement of the storm sewer, pavement and curb replacement, sidewalk replacement, re-striping where pavement is replaced to match existing striping, installation and removal of temporary construction fencing around project limits, and erosion control (installation, maintenance, and removal), and permanent vegetative stabilization. There are several utility lines within the project area that are critical to UWG's infrastructure, so care must be taken by the contractor to work around those utilities and keeping them active during construction. The contractor will be required to maintain good communication and coordination with Project Engineer, UWG Project Manager, and City Engineer throughout construction of the project.
