Questions and requests for clarification must be submitted no later than Tuesday January 24, 2023, at 4:30pm to Washington County Purchasing at procurement@washingtoncountyny.gov. The Washington County Department of Public Works (DPW) is planning a countywide Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event for early May 2023. Only one event is planned for 2023. Washington County intends to contract with a fully approved and licensed hazardous waste management contractor for the collection, transportation, and legal disposal of household hazardous wastes generated at this one-day event. The event will be conducted at a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation approved location at Washington County Municipal Center, 383 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY. Residents will be asked to bring limited quantities of specific acceptable wastes in original labeled containers for disposal. Washington County has approximately 61,300 residents. Actual level of participation is uncertain however a significant number of requests for information have been made recently. In November 2022 a paint collection event was held at the Washington County Municipal Center. A total of 370 vehicles registered for this event. Washington County is considering holding another paint collection event for County residents in 2023. This event would coincide with the household hazardous waste collection day. Both events would be held at the same venue, same date, same time. The paint collection vendor has already been selected.
