As of December 5, 2023, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. It is anticipated bidding will commence for the first phase of construction in summer 2024 with construction starting early 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: For Public Safety Training Center Design Craven Community College is requesting qualifications from professional services firms to design the project described here, to prepare and submit required permit applications, to ensure the project is designed to the appropriate local and state guidelines, and to prepare all plans and specifications as are necessary for bidding the project. The project entails the design of approximately 30 acres, partially cleared, for a Public Safety Training Center. The Public Safety Training Center will house Fire and Rescue, EMS, Basic Law Enforcement, and CDL training areas. The facilities will be located at 501 Executive Parkway, New Bern, NC 28562. Parcel ID's 8-217-7003 and 8-217-7004. Following the layout design, construction will be completed in phases. Craven Community College is contracting with a design firm to provide the following: 1. Design layout of the Public Safety Training Center to include: a. Road access to the undeveloped site and parking b. 600'x600' driving range c. 20,000 sq. ft. shell building containing i. Classrooms ii. Offices iii. Bathrooms iv. Data Closet v. Storage d. Hazardous material training area e. 20'x40' burn pad f. Internal firearms shooting range g. Mobile office (12'x60') 2. Preparation and submittal of all required permit applications 3. Preparation of all plans and specifications required for bidding portions of the project Total Project Budget $5,000,000-$7,000,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time In order to offer architectural, engineering, or landscape architectural services in response to this solicitation, the proposing firm must be properly licensed to practice Architecture, Engineering, or Landscape Architecture in the State of North Carolina. In the interest of costs-savings to the designers, consistency of the submittals and more efficient use of time by the pre-selection committee, the submitted information package should not include any notebooks, binders, tab, clips, etc. The format should be 8- 1/2" x 11" pages stapled in the upper left-hand corner. The package length should not exceed ten (10) pages plus the SF 254 Form.
