Renovation and addition to an educational facility in Armstrong, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and for the addition of a 15,012-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility.
To construct a new gymnasium including washrooms, change rooms, and storage space, to replace the existing gymnasium which was declared unfit for use as a result of fire damage. The area of the addition is approximately 1,390m2, to be constructed directly abutting the north side of the existing gymnasium. In conjunction with the addition there will be minor renovations in the existing school. The existing gymnasium is being demolished under a separate contract. Site works will include the construction of a new courtyard, connections to existing site services, as well as repairs to hard surfaces surrounding the new construction. The primary structure for the new gym will be structural steel and heavy timber, on a concrete foundation. The gymnasium floor will consist of an athletic hardwood floor over a concrete slab on grade. The existing school must be kept operational throughout the construction period
