East Street exists today as a "dirt street" for only one (1) block between Evans Street and East Broade Street. This project will add water and wastewater lines and eliminate a very old wastewater lift station by gravity connection to the South Brushy Creek Interceptor. Since the utility work will damage the existing street, this project will repair and cap the existing dirt street with a two (2) lane asphalt roadway with open ditch drainage between East Broade Street and Evans Street. Previous plans to construct a curb and gutter street from RM 2243 to Hero Way, with a bridge across Brushy Creek, will be considered in the future. Right-Of-Way (ROW) for East Street was dedicated with the original 1882 Leander plat, and no futher ROW is proposed at this time. This project is in included in the City of Leander FY 2023-2027 CIP. As of January 10, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
