Site work for a water / sewer project in Waller, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The project includes installation of new Sanitary Line by microtunneling under Business 290 and UPRR tracks. Proposals must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or a bid bond from a surety company holding a permit in the State of Texas for an amount equal to 5% of the amount bid. The amount of said certified or cashier's check or bond will be forfeited to the OWNER and the bank or surety shall be liable to the OWNER for the amount in the event the successful bidder shall fail or refuse to enter into a contract or furnish bonds as hereafter required within ten (10) days after the date of notice of award. If a certified or cashier's check is provided, the successful bidder shall deliver, at the ENGINEERS office (IDS Engineering Group, 13430 Northwest Freeway, Suite 700, Houston, Texas 77040), the original certified or cashier's check within twenty-four (24) hours of the bid opening. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond and a payment bond on the forms provided, each in the amount of 100% of the Contract price from a surety company licensed by the State of Texas. The OWNER reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities or irregularities in bidding. In case of lack of clarity in stating prices, the OWNER reserves the right to consider the most advantageous construction thereof, or reject the bid. Liquidated Damages :- liquidated damages and other amounts due under this Contract, such balance shall be paid to the Contractor. If such costs exceed the unpaid balance, the Contractor shall pay the difference to the Owner. The amount to be Revised 1/27/03 G-16 paid to the Contractor or Owner, as the case may be, shall be certified by the Engineer, upon application, and this obligation for payment shall survive termination of the Contract.The CONTRACTOR and the OWNER agree that time is of the essence of this CONTRACT. The CONTRACTOR and the OWNER agree that a breach of this CONTRACT by failure to complete the Work in the specified time will cause harm to the OWNER, and further agree that the harm the OWNER would sustain and the actual measure of damages the OWNER would incur from the breach are incapable or very difficult of ascertainment. Therefore, the CONTRACTOR and the OWNER agree that for each and every calendar day the Work or any portion thereof shall remain uncompleted after the expiration of the time limit set in the CONTRACT, or as extended under the provisions of the General Conditions, CONTRACTOR shall be liable to OWNER for liquidated damages in the sum of $500 per calendar day for each day the project is not completed in the time allowed plus approved extensions, which sum the parties agree is a reasonable forecast of the damages the OWNER will sustain per day that the work remains uncompleted and in no way constitutes a penalty. The OWNER shall have the option to deduct and withhold the amount of any liquidated damages from any monies that the OWNER owes the CONTRACTOR or to recover such amount from the CONTRACTOR or the Sureties on the CONTRACTOR'S bond. Scope of work :- Work of the Contract is for the construction of City of Waller D Street sanitary sewer, construction of approximately 416 linear feet of 18-inch gravity sanitary sewer line by micro tunnel and open cut construction. The work in general, to be performed under this Contract consists of, but is not limited to, the following general tasks, which are more specifically described in the drawings and other sections of these specifications. 1. Cutting, grouting, plugging, and abandoning 283 LF of existing 8-inch sanitary sewer pipe from an existing sanitary manhole at the intersection of D Street and Taylor Street to an existing lift station on Washington Street. SUMMARY OF WORK 01110-2 Revised on 2022-09-20 06-27-2005 by IDS Engineering Group 2. Installation of 34 LF of 18-inch Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe (PVC) gravity sanitary sewer by open-cut construction methods from manhole A-1 to manhole A-2 in the intersection of D Street and Taylor Street, 323 LF 18-inch PVC sanitary sewer with carrier pipe insulators encased in 30-inch steel casing sealed at each end by micro-tunneling methods crossing under TxDOT Business 290 (Hempstead Rd) and Union Pacific Railroad track Right of Ways from manhole A-2 to manhole A-3, 38 LF of 18-inch PVC sanitary sewer by open cut construction from manhole A-3 to manhole A-4, and 21 LF of 18-inch PVC sanitary sewer by open cut construction from manhole A-4 to an existing lift station on Washington Street. The completed project will include 4-ft, 7-ft, and 8-ft diameter corrosion resistant precast concrete manholes. 3. Installation of diversion pumping as necessary, according to the attached diversion pumping plan exhibit. Provide temporary power and control equipment required for diversion pumping operation during construction. Protect, anchor, and restrain force main piping. Protect suction and discharge manholes. Diversion pumping pumps shall have noise pollution reduction. Contractor may submit alternate diversion pumping plan to be approved by Engineer. 4. Monitoring of railroad tracks, pipe insulators and caps, and connection to existing lift station should all be considered incidental to the work to be performed. Provide materials, labor, equipment, and superintendence in accordance with these Technical Specifications, Project Drawings, and Contract Documents. Contractor's responsibility includes, but is not limited to, construction sequencing in accordance with the Contract Documents, quality control of workmanship and materials, handling of all material, handling and disposal of all waste, and compliance with regulatory standards governing the work. 5. Installation of the sewer manholes within City of Waller owned property will require traffic control on City of Waller and TxDOT roadways, stormwater pollution prevention plan implementation per TPDES regulations, shaft installations, dewatering, trench safety, and site restoration, including asphalt roadway pavement demolition and replacement. Contractor shall submit Traffic Control Plan to TxDOT for approval. Contractor shall review provided geotechnical information for soil conditions and possible presence of unsuitable tunneling materials. 6. Restoration of disturbed sites to equal or better conditionWork of the Contract is for the construction of City of Waller D Street sanitary sewer, construction of approximately 416 linear feet of 18-inch gravity sanitary sewer line by micro tunnel and open cut construction.
