As of October 8, 2024, per owner, this project is near completion. Newberry County is seeking request for qualifications from engineering firms to plan, design, and manage the construction of a new road in the Newberry Industrial Park. The County of Newberry is requesting qualifications from engineering firms licensed in the State of South Carolina to plan, design, and manage the construction of a new road. Qualified engineering firms are invited to submit a response based on the information outlined below. It is intended that these services will assist the County in determining the level of qualifications for the submitting firms in designing a public road, budgeting for its construction, and other services associated with the proposed road's construction. Interested firms will submit to Newberry County statements of qualifications demonstrating the firms' abilities to handle the tasks needed to perform the duties to produce stamped drawings that are ready to bid for construction. The qualifications shall reflect the licensing of the firm, years of experience (at least 5 years) for projects related to roadway infrastructure, key personal staff and those assigned to this project. The submittals will include documentation of previous road projects related to design, budget, and management throughout the construction process. Relevant documentation shall be in accordance with the South Carolina Department of Transportation requirements. The path of the proposed road will include a new entrance near the property lines of parcels 491-6 and 451-26. The new roadway will run southeast through parcel 491-6, adjacent to the property line with 451-26. The proposed road will then make an approximate 90-degree turn to the left, and link up with the existing Mawsons Way road. Total length of the new road will be approximately 3,525 linear feet. The submittals shall contain the following: a) Name and address of the firm, a brief list of references, name and qualifications of the proposed project manager; b) A description of the approach to be taking in addressing the proposed scope of work, along with a timetable for completion of specifications and drawings for bid; c) Narrative outlining the qualifications of the firm, years in business, experience with roadway design services, and three (3) project references; d) Proof of required insurance to perform the proposed work as well as evidence of current required state licenses and certifications e) Hourly rates of personnel who will be assigned to this project; however, the County will enter into a contract based on a not to exceed, lump sum amount for engineering The deadline for questions is February 1, 2023 by close of business at 5:00 p.m. Questions are to be submitted to Crystal Waldrop at cwaldrop@newberrycounty.net The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
