As of October 2, 2024, a general contractor has been awarded and construction is underway, nearing completion on some schools and complete on others. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Jackson Madison County School System (JMCSS) is issuing this Request for Qualifications to solicit interest in providing architectural and engineering services for the renovations and upgrades to the former Malesus Elementary School and various roofing projects. JMSCC has authorized renovations and upgrades to the Malesus School and reroofing projects at other schools. The selected A/E firm will provide basic design services for the project. The A/E firm will be working with JMCSS Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Maintenance to complete the services required. If JMCSS so decides, a Construction Manager may also be a part of the Project Team. Services will include the following Attend meetings with the Project Team Attend JMCSS School Board and Madison County Commission meetings to apprise them of the progress Develop preliminary drafts of the program for review and comment Consult with JMCSS staff and County Commission on budget and funding Consult with the Project Team on concepts and needs Provide standard design services; construction documents, bidding/negotiation services, and construction administration Project Scope Malesus Renovations Renovations and upgrades to convert Malesus School into a new middle school innovation hub. Interior renovations to improve the layout for the new functions and address code deficiencies. Systems upgrades to mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power, security, and low-voltage data/communication/IT. Exterior improvements for weather-tightness and to provide a modern, high-tech, creative appearance Site improvements to enhance accessibility and improve circulation, drainage, and parking conditions. Hazardous material abatement as needed in areas of construction. Project Scope Roofing Evaluate existing roof conditions at mutable school buildings. provide report prioritizing the need for repair vs replacement. Remove existing roofing and install new roofing system. Increase insulation for energy efficiency (where possible). Remove existing flashing, curbs, copings, etc and install new roof appurtenances. Hazardous material abatement as needed. JMCSS reserves the right to reject any or all submittals and waive informalities, irregularities, and technicalities in the process.
