The City of Fontana is accepting proposals from qualified Civil Engineering firms, with experience in Caltrans Oversight and Encroachment Permit projects, to provide Engineering Design Services for the Development of Plans, Specifications and Estimates and other Engineering Services for the Citrus Avenue Widening at SR-210 Project. Design Consultant will be responsible for coordinating any design and permit requirements with Caltrans. The Consultant shall refer to Section 1.2 and 1.8 of this RFP for additional information regarding the City's expectations for Caltrans coordination. All work associated with this project shall conform to the City's standard plans, Caltrans requirements and Greenbook specifications, including any amendments made by the City or Caltrans. The City intends to improve the traffic flow on Citrus Avenue by widening the street segment between the SR-210 eastbound on-ramp intersection and South Highland Avenue. The widening will take place on the east portion of Citrus Avenue and will add a dedicated right-turn lane onto eastbound SR-210, between the SR-210 eastbound on-ramp intersection and South Highland Avenue. This widening will impact adjacent traffic signals and curb ramps, thus modifications and/or relocations will be required where proposed improvements impact existing conditions. These modifications and/or relocations shall include any storm drain improvements in the project area. In addition to adding a right-turn lane, the project shall include a reconfiguration of the existing median to extend the length of the southbound left turn pocket on Citrus Avenue, between the SR-210 eastbound ramp intersection and South Highland Avenue. The consultant shall be aware of ongoing development, scheduled to occur in 2023/2024, on the northwest and northeast corners of the Citrus Avenue and South Highland Avenue intersection. Therefore, design and construction of this project is imperative to support future traffic conditions.
