Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Newton, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

Sealed proposals for Boston Road Stormwater Culvert Replacement services may be submitted as outlined below. The successful bidder shall provide culvert replacement services for the City of Newton. The stormwater culvert that is to be replaced is located at 1391 Boston Road, Newton NC 28658. The City reserves the right to add, delete or modify the job specifications pending discoveries during work and/or available funds and current needs. The successful Contractor shall furnish and pay all costs including sales tax, applicable federal, state or city taxes and/or fees. The Contractor shall furnish all materials, supervision, labor, sub-trade costs, tools, barriers, equipment, clean-up, debris removal, rentals, porta-potty, transportation, and other items that may be needed to fulfill the work as defined in this request. The City reserves the right to waive minor irregularities or minor errors in the proposal, if it appears to the City that such irregularities or errors were made through inadvertence. Any such irregularities or errors so waived must be corrected on the proposal prior to acceptance by the City. It shall be the responsibility of the sender to confirm receipt by the City. The City of Newton's current goal for minority participation for public building construction is five percent (5%). The intent of these guidelines is to ensure that the City of Newton, as awarding authority for construction projects, and the contractors and subcontractors performing the construction contracts awarded, shall cooperate and in good faith do all things, legal, proper and reasonable to achieve the statutory goal of five percent (5%) for participation by minority businesses in each construction project as mandated by GS 143-128.2. Nothing in these guidelines shall be construed to require contractors or awarding authorities to award contracts or subcontracts to or to make purchases of materials or equipment from minority-business contractors or minority-business subcontractors who do not submit the lowest responsible responsive bid or bids. For M/WBE questions, call: 828-695-4328. Only approved contractors from the NC Statewide Uniform Certification list may be used for this contract. Bidders are reminded that the minimum M/WBE Program documentation is due at the time of the bid opening. When work is added to the contract through change orders, or by other written means, the contractor is to pursue portioning work to the respective M/WBE contractors accordingly. Contractor Shall keep a (12) twelve-foot lane open at all times, as this is the ONLY entrance and exit for the residents on the North side of the culvert that is to be replaced. Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining Traffic Control throughout the entire duration of the project. Remove (2) two trees on the exit side of the culvert. Remove, haul off, and install a new watertight (4) four feet by (4) four feet with a wall thickness minimum of 4 inches and minimum weight per lineal ft./lbs of 1160 by approximately (48) forty-eight linear feet of Traffic Rated Box Culvert (NO SPLIT BOXES). The select fill around the excavation site shall consist of CABC material. The cost for the select fill material shall be included in the lump sum line item for the box culvert installation price on the bid sheet. Install (2)two feet of compacted #57 washed stone wrapped in geotextile separation filter fabric for undercut below the new box culvert. Install winged concrete reinforced headwall at intake side of the box culvert. Install Class-1 Rip-Rap with Geotextile Filter Fabric for slope protection. Install Silt Fence (EROSION CONTROL). Remove and replace Asphalt Pavement; (6) six inches of CABC, (2) twoinch Min. Binder, (2) two-inch Min. Asphalt Surface Course (S9.5B). Line Item # 3 Miscellaneous Items of the Bid Form will need to include the cost of whatever means and methods you plan to use to ensure that (1) one lane of traffic is available throughout the entire duration of the project. ALTERNATE Install winged concrete reinforced endwall at exit side of the box culvert. The completion time for this contract is 60 Sixty calendar days
