As of July 3, 2023, the project has been awarded. A timeline for construction has not been confirmed. For Algae Reduction Project The City of Colfax (City) is proposing to upgrade their existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to mitigate algae growth in the existing Equalization Ponds. The proposed City of Colfax Algae Removal Project (Project) involves installing a new pre-engineered Suspended Air Floatation (SAF) System which will be used for the removal of algae from the flow collected in Equalization Pond Nos. 2 and 3. The project also includes installation of a new algae dewatering system as well as various improvements to existing facilities to support the new processes. Existing facilities to be rehabilitated as a part of this Project includes the Chlorine Contact Basin (Filter) Pump Station, the Pond No. 3 Pump Station, the Plant Water system, dilapidated electrical panels, and the outdated/inadequate SCADA system. The Project will ultimately allow the WWTP to effectively and reliably remove and dispose of accumulated algae which has historically been a reoccurring issue for wastewater treatment operations. The work to be performed is estimated to cost $ 3,100,000. The work involves furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to construct the City of Colfax Algae Removal Project, including, but not limited to: 1. Demolition and removal of existing piping and equipment associated with the existing algae sand filters. 2. Furnishing and installing a pre-packaged Suspended Air Floatation (SAF) System for the removal of algae from Equalization Basin Return (EBR) water from Pond Nos. 2 and 3. 3. Furnishing and installing all equipment, piping, and associated appurtenances required for the new Chlorine Contact Basin (CCB) Pump Station. 4. Furnishing and installing all equipment, piping, and associated appurtenances required for the new Pond No. 3 Pump Station. 5. Furnishing and installing new pipelines and a hydrodynamic tank as shown on the drawings. 6. Constructing concrete slabs for the following new equipment: SAF System, Algae Dewatering System, CCB Pump station, and Pond No. 3 Pump Station. 7. Paving around the SAF process area with asphalt concrete paving as shown on the Drawings. 8. Furnishing and installing two (2) new pre-engineered metal canopies over the SAF System and the new Pond No. 3 Pump Station. 9. Constructing Class II Aggregate Base in areas are shown on the Drawings. 10. Replacing existing electrical switchgear and providing and installing new PLC/Switchgear pedestals at the CCB and Pond 3 Pump Stations. 11. Replacing and augmenting the existing SCADA system with new components including wiring and testing.
