The existing High Point High School will be replaced with a new, state-of-the-art 423,000 square foot facility built on the current site, designed to accommodate 2,600 students. The project will address overcrowding and provide modern learning environments supporting 21st-century instruction, including updated core spaces, enhanced safety features, energy-efficient systems, and dedicated areas for career and technical education. pgcps Despite the formal project name referencing "renovation," this is a full replacement — a complete tear-down and rebuild on the existing Powder Mill Road campus. Grimm + Parker Architecture has been selected as the project architect. The Calverton, MD-based firm is one of Maryland's most active K–12 education architects and has a substantial prior portfolio with PGCPS and other Maryland school systems. The general contractor has not yet been selected — the GC/CM procurement will follow once design progresses sufficiently through the Maryland state review and approval process. The project is currently shown in the Design Phase on PGCPS's Capital Programs project tracker, with the most recent community update meeting held on February 18, 2026, for which recordings and multilingual presentations (English, Spanish, and French) are publicly available on the PGCPS Capital Programs website.
