Any Bid received shall be irrevocable for a period of thirty (30) calendar days. Following a review of the Bids by the Public Works Department, a recommendation will be made to the Board of Selectmen as to the award of contract on or about March 13, 2023, with Notice to Proceed anticipated to be issued within 5 business days. In general, the Scope of Work to be performed under this Contract includes a Type II double course micro-surface treatment of 11,901 LF (31,075 SY) of Spring Road from the intersection of Baboosic Lake Road to Thornton Ferry Road II including. pavement marking removal, surface preparations such as street sweeping, and installation of temporary pavement markings. The Town of Amherst recognizes the Scope of Work to be performed under this Contract requires a qualified contractor and the work is temperature sensitive. As part of the bidding selection process, the town may require (from the top three selections) a summary of work obligations and equipment resources to assure substantial completion and completion of work dates can realistically be met. e Substantial Completion shall be achieved not later than June 16, 2023; and e Final Completion of all Contract Work shall be achieved not later than June 30, 2023. Failure on the part of the Contractor to comply with any of these critical dates shall result in the assessment of Liquidated Damages in the amount of $ 100.00 for each calendar day of delay. As specified in the Contract Documents and Technical Specifications for this project: 1. Each Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Total Base Bid Price. 2. The successful Bidder shall: deliver executed Performance & Payment Bonds; deliver required insurance certificates; and execute the Contract Agreement within ten days of receipt of Notice of Award. A complete Set of the Contract Documents snail be used 1n preparing bids; neither the lown or Amherst nor its supporting engineers assumes any responsibility for errors or misinterpretation from the use of the Contract Documents. The Town of Amherst and its supporting engineers, in making copies of the Contract Documents available on the above terms, do so only for the purpose of obtaining Bids for the Work. The Town of Amherst intends to award the Work to the Contractor who 1s the most reasonable and responsible low Bidder; however, the Town reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, to waive any informalities related to those Bids received, and/or modify the Scope of Work if 1t deems one or more of those actions to be the best interest of the Town of Amherst. To illustrate experience and capabilities to perform micro-surfacing work, Bidders shall submit as part of their Bid a list of similar projects completed within the last 3 years. Contractor shall complete the form in the Bid Schedule which shall include the project names and locations, owner or agency contact names and telephone numbers, and the total area of work completed for each project. In addition to experience with conventional micro-surfacing, the bidder must also be able to demonstrate experience applying the highly modified asphalt (Hi1MA 6% SBS polymer) variation of micro-surfacing, and such experience shall be noted on the above required list of similar recent projects including the contact information for each project.
