The Meewasin Valley Authority in partnership with the City of Saskatoon (Jointly, the Owner) invites a consulting team (Consultant) to submit a proposal to conduct a City Wide Planting Site Assessment. The project includes an assessment of existing public open spaces and lands owned or managed by Meewasin and the City of Saskatoon. This could include but is not limited to berms, parks, riparian and natural areas, open spaces, buffers, boulevards and medians located within Saskatoon city limits. A planting site assessment will be developed, based on a previous City of Saskatoon Canopy Assessment that identified planting sites to determine which existing locations are appropriate for tree and shrub plantings. This detailed review and assessment of suitable planting sites will be used to inform the City of Saskatoon and Meewasin planting programs, the consideration and utilization of existing green spaces to support tree and shrub plantings, and reduce the risk of planting in areas that cannot support trees. It will provide baseline data to help improve the equitable distribution of the urban tree canopy, ensure the right plants are in the right places, aid in the provision of habitat, and improve the overall connectivity of Saskatoons green network. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
