City Council members on Monday night agreed to take new bids for the reconstruction of Burlington Street after the lone project proposal came in $783,000 more costly than anticipated. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The project site is located on Burlington Street, and consists of the complete street reconstruction noted within the Project Description and illustrated in the drawings portion of these Bid Documents. The successful contractor will be required to provide all labor, materials, machinery, tools, equipment and other means of construction necessary and incidental to the completion of the work shown on the plans and described in the specifications The City Council reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all bids. Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the amount of not less than five per centum (5%) of the bid in the form and subject to the conditions provided for in the Information for Bidders. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bonds in the amount of not less than 100% of the total amount of the accepted bid and in such form and having as surety thereon such surety company or companies as are approved by the City Council.
