The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is seeking bids for invasive plant treatments at Bandon State Natural Area to improve nesting habitat for western snowy plovers. Work consists of mechanically mowing and mulching gorse (Ulex europaeus) patches, using a tracked vehicle with flail head mower with mulching capability over approximately 20 acres. Gorse will be reduced to pieces no longer than 3 inches in length. Mulched gorse will remain on site to decompose. Once mulched gorse has grown resprouts measuring 12" to 24", spot spray resprouts with herbicide. Treatments also include spot spraying European beachgrass (Calamagrostis arenaria) with herbicide over approximately 20 acres. OPRD has an immediate need for these services. Tasks 2 and 3 MUST be completed by or before March 10, 2023. Task 4 must be completed by December 31, 2023.
