The Kagawong Old Mill Road Watermain Upgrades project is taking place in Kagawong, located in West Manitoulin Island. The historic village of Kagawong is one of Manitoulin's most picturesque. Part of Kagawong's appeal lies in its geography. The village is built into a valley with its downtown sitting adjacent to the waters of Mudge Bay. The existing waterline on Old Mill Road is 50mm in diameter and is not within it's right-of-way. The watermain services the Municipal Office, the Small Craft Basin, as well as residences on Old Mill Road. The proposed work aims to construct an appropriately sized water main within the Old Mill Road's right-of-way. A portion of this water main installation will require directional drilling to cross the Kagawong River. The Kagawong - Old Mill Road Waterline Project - scope of work includes but is not limited to the following: - Removal of existing asphalt and required road subbase. - Removal of Existing Watermain sections, valve boxes, and other appurtenances. - Installation of approximately 839m of 150mm dia. PVC DR 18 OR 200mm dia. HDPE DR 11 Watermain c/w Excavation, Dewatering, Granulars, and Associated Appurtenances. - Installation of 69m of Directionally Drilled 200mm dia. HDPE DR 11 Watermain c/w Excavation, Dewatering, Granulars and Associated Appurtenances. - Connection of proposed watermain to existing watermain on Main Street. - Rock Excavation. - Fire Hydrant Installations c/w Service Laterals and Associated Appurtenances. - Installation of 32 m of Curb and Gutter c/w subdrain. - Installation of a 45 Curb Outlet. - Installation of Cable Guide Rail. - Pulverizing & Grading the Surface Treatment of Old Mill Road and provide new Surface Treatment. - Restoration of removed Asphalt and Granulars for the Main Street watermain connection.
