Independence County is now accepting bids from road contractors to surface and/or resurface with Seal and/or Asphalt of various designated county roads. The County reserves the right to accept part or all any specific bid or bids and to reject any and all bids. Solicitation for Bids Independence County Road Department Scope of Work: Independence County intends to resurface and or construct up to twenty-five (25) miles of road using a chip and seal surface within the county by October 1, 2023. This work is in addition to maintenance and state bid jobs also anticipated. These roads are located scattered around the county and some may be added or deleted during this time due to funds available, conditions and weather. Due to the uncertainty of how many of these roads can be prepared and also the exact timelines, the winning bidder should be prepared to work with the road department for location and timing. The total may be more or less than twenty-five (25) miles of roads. The work will consist of a combination of the following; application of a single chip and seal over existing surface, or application of a prime coat with a single chip and seal over a prepared surface, or a prime coat with a double chip and seal over a prepared surface. These projects will be varied within the goal of twenty-five (25) miles. Bids are being taken only for the oil and application of oil and chips and compaction of chips. The county will prepare roadways for the application of prime, single or double coats of surface. The county will provide chips hauled to the sites. Single chip and seal to roadway shall apply and use liquefied asphalt CRS-2P (solid polymer) at a rate of 0.4 gallons (four tenths of one gallon) per square yard and 30 pounds of class 1(one) chips spread per square yard and compacted. A separate bid for use of CRS-2P (latex polymer) at a rate of 0.4 gallons (four tenths of one gallon) per square yard is required as an alternate for the solid polymer. Prime and single chip and seal to roadway shall apply and use MC30 at a rate of 0.35 gallon (thirty five hundredths of one gallon) per square yard as a prime. Then apply and use liquefied asphalt CRS-2P (solid polymer) at a rate of 0.4 gallon (four tenths of one gallon) per square yard and 30 (thirty) pounds of Class 1 (one) chips spread per square yard and compacted. A separate bid for use of CRS-2P (latex polymer) at a rate of 0.4 gallons (four tenths of one gallon) per square yard is required as an alternate for the solid polymer. Prime and double chip and seal to roadway shall apply and use MC30 at a rate of 0.35 gallon (thirty five hundredths of one gallon) per square yard as a prime. Then apply and use liquefied asphalt CRS-2P (solid polymer) at a rate of 0.4 gallon (four tenths of one gallon) per square yard and 30 (thirty) pounds of Class 1 (one) chips spread per square yard and compacted. Second application shall have 0.35 gallon (thirty five hundredths of one gallon) liquefied asphalt CRS-2P (solid polymer) applied per square yard with 28 (twenty eight) pounds Class 1 (one) chips spread per square yard and compacted. A separate bid for use of CRS-2P (latex polymer) at rates listed is required as an alternate for the solid polymer. It is possible a fast action prime will be needed on some projects. Please prepare a separate bid for use of CPP-1 at a rate of 0.20 gallons (two tenths gallons) per square yard as a prime alternate for each category above.
