Jefferson County is seeking quotes from qualified bidders to replace an existing snowmobile trail bridge with a culvert crossing. The project will include removal and disposal of the existing clear-span wooden bridge and replacement of this bridge with two culverts and the associated fill to create an at grade crossing of an agricultural ditch. Jefferson County has received the permits and authorizations from Jefferson County Zoning, WIDNR, and Army Corps of Engineers for this project. Project Description: o Coordination with property owner and snowmobile representative for access to the property. Permit limitations preclude access to this waterway between March 1 st and June 15 th. o Removal of existing bridge structure and proper disposal at an off-site location. o Preparation of the site for access and placement of two 30" x 28' plastic culverts. See drawings for grades and install specifications. o 6" embed of culverts in existing ditch bed. o All spoils from site preparation will be reused onsite for fill and grade. o Jefferson County will provide culverts for project. o Hauling in clean-fill aggregate material to backfill around pipes up to trail grade. Compacting in lifts to reduce settling. Estimated fill 103 yards. o Trail shoulders on the upstream and downstream side will be dressed with 5" riprap material with a minimum of 12" of cover over fill material. o At project completion, the site will be restored including graded and cleared of any spoils, fill material, and other debris from the project. A final site inspection with the snowmobile Trail Representative and Property Owner will be required at the end of the project. The requested project start date is February 1st , 2023 with a completion date of February 1, 2024. Estimated project time lineis not more than two days of work and preferable timeline would be either early spring or late fall when crops are off the fields. We would make sure to avoid the 3/15-5/15 restrictions for Warmwater streams south of Hwy 29.
