For FNC 2023 Fencing (South Rochford Road) All logs, trees, limbs, slash, brush and other material will be removed from the right of way unless other wise specified. Standing saw logs (9" DBH or greater) may not be cut without prior approval. An occasional tree may need cut as a result of adjusting or re-locating the fence line. All trees cut shall be less than 9" dbh and felled as to lay flat on the ground and bucked to lengths less than 10 feet. All generated slash shall be lopped and scattered to less than 18 inches in height. When constructing the fence in meadows, the contractor shall alternate using wood and steel for line posts. Once fence line leaves the meadow, the contractor may use steel posts for line posts. Sealed bids for more than one project may not be combined into one envelope. For each project, a separate sealed bid is required, with the project name written on the front of the sealed bid. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to materials, products, and supplies found or produced within the State of South Dakota. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities therein, and reserves the right to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder as they so determine. This fencing project is located on South Rochford Road between West Deerfield Road continuing north/northeast to approximately 0.78 miles south of Rochford Road. This work shall include all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals to furnish and install fence. Work shall conform to the requirements of (SDDOT) "Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges," 2015 Edition, as amended, supplemented, and corrected, Section 620. Temporary fence will be barbed wire 3-strand, except all posts may be steel and post spacing may be 20 feet. Bids shall include Contractor furnish and install and also Contractor install with Forest Service furnished materials. All fencing installed at the Right-of-Way (ROW) on Forest Service lands will be installed to the Forest Service Specifications and Exhibits. A designated Forest Service representative will oversee fencing installation and any variations will be communicated in writing to both the County Highway Department and Forest Service staff before approval.
