The Ministry and Transportation and Infrastructure's Structural Construction Services group is soliciting expressions of interest from consultant project supervision companies to provide Structural Supervision support (as outlined in Section 5 Services) for the Highway 1 216th to 264th Widening Major Works Contract. The Major Works Contract includes components of Grading, Paving and Structures. The Grading and Paving will be administered by the Ministry Representation team lead by Provincial Field Services. The successful proponent of the RFQ and subsequent RFP, will support the Min Rep and administer the structural construction portion of the Major Works contract to replace the existing 232nd Underpass and associated structural components. The Site is located on Highway 1 between the 216 Street and 264 Street underpasses. The Site location is identified as;
LKI Segment 0518, km 8.65 to km 18.20 (eastbound)
LKI Segment 0519, km 10.60 to km 1.60 (westbound)
LKI Segment 3121, km 2.49 to km 3.33 (232nd Street)
The 232nd Street Underpass portion of the Site is located adjacent to the existing 232nd Street underpass and extends approximately 100m from each abutment along 232nd street. The general nature of the work includes the demolition and replacement of the existing 232nd Underpass which may include the following. Demolition and removal of the existing 232nd Street underpass
Construction of a 100m long, 2 span, 4 lanes plus sidewalks steel girder Structure
Pile installation at Pier and Abutments
Structural Steel erection
Cast in Place concrete deck and approach slabs
Waterproof membrane installation with asphalt overlay
51m and 65m EPS walls complete with concrete facing and moments slabs at the approaches
2 7m long CIP retaining walls
Potential Demo of existing CP rail underpass (conditional on timing of successful completion of CP Rail replacement Major Works project)
Construction of a green faced reinforced slope. Other works include quality management, traffic management, roadway drainage and excavation work including spillway installations, geotechnical elements, supporting environmental monitoring to complete associated works. The objective of the project is improved safety and mobility for all users of the Highway 1 corridor from 216th to 264th St. It is anticipated that this assignment will start in Summer 2023 and complete in Winter 2025/26.
