Bus stops in Santa Monica are a custom developed, manufactured, and installed amenity, requiring site-specific replacement knowledge. These stops were part of a 7-year development project completed in 2015. Due to the nature of these custom amenities, specific site construction plans, installation procedures, and the need for preapproved traffic plans, bidders need specific understanding and knowledge of each location needing repairs or replacement. These types of stop amenities are supported by an encasement of concrete below surface grade, are installed using a crane and require concrete demolition and re-pouring of sidewalk to complete replacement. In the course of replacing these bus stop amenities, bidders may be required to perform the following duties: Submit temporary traffic control plans as required and obtain approval from the City of Santa Monica Use existing as-built drawings for verification of all underground utilities Work with dig-alert as required for verifying underground utilities Install plywood barricade during all phases of construction Post all safety related signage to alert the public to construction Post all necessary temporary bus stop closure and movement signage during construction - Saw-cut sidewalk according to existing as-built drawings - Remove damaged amenity units with crane and haul away as necessary - Replace custom units as per approved existing blueprints - Re-pour sidewalk with existing concrete type, ensuring that original type of concrete or paver is put in place per original blueprint - Re-install pavers and fix depression in pavers that could pose a trip hazard - Install Big Blue Buss logo signage sticker at top of replacement unit - Install window acrylic panels - Remove and dispose of barricades and clean bus stop area - Work with City inspectors and SMDOT management for verification and sign-off of proper installation procedures Payment Bond Only the successful bidder will be required to submit a payment bond, because the good or service exceeds $25,000.
